CrakRevenue Smartlink vs. Direct Offer: Which Should You Use?

Posted on November 8, 2026November 8, 2026

Promoting one specific brand? Start with its direct offer link. Helping a mixed audience explore cam or dating sites? A Smartlink is worth testing. That’s our starting advice. The better choice depends on what your page promises and what your visitors actually do after they click.

A direct offer link lets you choose the offer. A Smartlink lets CrakRevenue choose among offers for each visitor. Here’s how to pick the right approach, set up a useful test, and read the results.

CamRevShare may earn a referral commission when you join through our links. Official documentation checked November 8, 2026.

Which should you try first?

Your situationStart withWhy
Your article reviews one named platform.Direct offerThe offer should match the platform your reader came to learn about.
Your page helps visitors explore a general cam or dating niche.SmartlinkYou can test the network’s offer selection for different visitors.
You already have an offer that works for a specific audience.Direct offerKeep control of that offer while testing its message or landing page.
Your visitors come from several countries and use different devices.Test a SmartlinkIts routing considers visitor details. Compare the results with a suitable direct offer.
You cannot tell which link produced your results.Set up tracking firstGive each test a separate Sub ID (a tracking label for a link or placement) so the results are useful.

These are suggested starting points, not a claim that one link type always earns more. A relevant direct offer can beat a Smartlink, and a Smartlink can outperform the offer you picked. Your own results decide.

What does a direct offer link do?

You pick an offer in your CrakRevenue account and use its generated tracking link. The offer page tells you its payout type, accepted countries, terms, and available creatives. Read those details before putting the link on your site. See the official offer-page guide.

This is a useful fit when your page talks about one product or platform. You can build the explanation, banner, and button around that offer instead of asking a general link to choose the destination.

A direct offer does not necessarily mean one fixed landing page. CrakRevenue’s link builder supports automatic landing-page selection for the selected offer, or a page you choose manually. The tracking-link guide explains both options.

Country restrictions matter too. CrakRevenue says visitors from an unsupported country can be redirected to a different offer that accepts their location. If keeping visitors with a named brand matters to your page, check its country coverage and ask support about fallback behavior. Read the geo-targeting explanation.

What does a Smartlink do differently?

A Smartlink puts the offer selection in the network’s hands. CrakRevenue describes routing that uses location, device, language, and traffic type to select relevant offers. You choose the category and promotion method, then use the generated link. See CrakRevenue’s Smartlink walkthrough.

That makes it useful to test on a broader page where visitors share an interest but do not all want the same brand. You spend less time picking an individual offer for every country. You still need to check the link, its settings, and the results.

Keep the button honest. “Explore cam sites” can fit a general cam Smartlink. A button saying “Join Brand X” should use the relevant Brand X offer and account for its availability. Readers should understand where the next click may take them.

How to set up each option

For a direct offer

  1. Open Offers and filter by the countries, devices, and promotion method you use.
  2. Check the offer’s status. Get approval first if it says approval is required.
  3. Read the qualifying action and payout terms.
  4. Generate your tracking link, choose the landing-page option, and add a source or Sub ID label.

CrakRevenue’s offer-filter guide explains the accepted-promotion-method and approval filters. A Smartlink also needs to be used with traffic the program permits.

For a Smartlink

  1. Open the Smartlink page in your account.
  2. Choose the relevant category and your actual promotion method.
  3. Use the available customization options to label the placement with a Sub ID.
  4. Review the settings, then copy the generated link.

The newer walkthrough lists Dating, Cam, Mixed, and AI categories. Older help pages show some different labels and additional payout settings, so follow the options available in your account. The Smartlink help guide also covers Sub IDs and optional pop-unders and back offers. These can open an extra window or show another offer when a visitor goes back. Check the options before enabling them.

Example: two pages, two different jobs

Imagine you run a cam affiliate website. One article explains a specific platform’s features and signup process. Use a direct offer for that platform, with a button that clearly names it. Check that the offer accepts your main audience.

Another page helps readers explore a cam niche without recommending one brand. That is a reasonable place to test a Cam Smartlink, using a broader button such as “Explore cam sites.” Give that placement its own tracking label.

You can use both approaches on the same website. Choose the link for the job of each page, then measure whether it works.

How to compare the results fairly

To test Smartlink against direct offer, use comparable traffic and give each version its own Sub ID. Keep the placement and message suitable for both destinations. Comparing a banner at the top of a busy page with a text link at the bottom of a different page tells you very little about the link types themselves.

  • Use the same date range. Give both tests a comparable observation period.
  • Check country and device mix. One version may have received a different audience.
  • Record clicks and approved commissions. Keep pending results separate.
  • Include traffic costs. More commission does not always mean more profit.
  • Check the payout model. A lead, sale, and revenue-share payment are different results.

CrakRevenue’s reports can break results down by offer, country, device, payout type, and Sub ID. EPC means earnings per click: payout divided by clicks. Compare it alongside your costs and the timing of commissions, especially when one test uses revenue share. See the reporting options.

If one country does well through your Smartlink, ask your affiliate manager which offers worked for that traffic. A media-buying interview published by CrakRevenue suggests using Smartlink results to find opportunities for direct promotion. Treat that as a next test, rather than assuming the same result will follow.

Our recommendation

Start with a direct offer when you can clearly explain why that offer belongs on your page. Test a Smartlink when the page serves a broader audience and you want help matching visitors to offers. Keep the winner for that audience, and check again when your traffic or the offer changes.
